While the Dean of Academic Medicine will usually keep an eye out that it doesn’t happen, I had instructors who made courses way harder than they needed to be just because of their own interests. (I took Genetics from a PhD who had mapped out two genomes–I felt like strangling the SOB).

I know HGP has had recent breakthroughs with the aging gene and they say that it’s moving so fast that the first 150 yr old may be only 25 yrs away from the first 1000 yr life expectancy.
