or thanks to the human genome programme?
cure usually means restoration of complete health or to non-sick condition. if that’s what you meant then no cures were found for any disease thanks to molecular medicine. however, a great number number of drugs came from such a research that greatly help to alleviate the symptoms of those diseases. One example is Amgen’s drug called Enbrel, it is a genetically engineered molecule (protein) that blocks inflammatory reaction in an inflamed arthritic joint.
having said that, there are product of molecular research that are designed to kill tumor cells and in many cases completely eliminate all tumor cells, so one might say there are cures for some lymphomas thanks to molecular research. best example is being an antibody called Rituxan that kills many lymphomas.
human genome project hasn’t yet brought to fruition any drugs yet.
